Sketchmatch rulesWhat is Sketchmatch?
The original Sketchmatch actually was originated on Twitter by idea of ~eL-HiNO, ~toonfed and ~Tebin-Art and later transfered to deviantArt via dAmn
The rules and way to participate has changed slightly since then but the main rules remain the same; the idea is to create a quick jam, a group of deviations with a theme which is set at the moment by the people currently participating.
The catch is that you only get 10 minutes to do your entry!
Here are a couple of examples:
Yes! Each one of these was created in just 10 minutes!
So how will this work?
We gather over :#communityrelations: The theme will be set at the moment by the participants currently in there. The theme could be literally anything; french maids, steampunk ponies, how would you look if you were a superhero, the most craz
PE: dAmn It - What is it?dAmn it - What is it?
dAmn it is a database of quotes for deviants to post any funny situations they have witnessed on deviantART's +chat network.
For your quotes to appear in the database, they must be approved by a Community Volunteer.
Some tips (taken from the FAQ):
Trim useless partsAvoid inside jokes. Remember, these quotes are going to be seen by everyone, and few people are going to appreciate private jokes! This is supposed to be a database of funny quotes, so please keep it in topicRemove potential thousands of "lol" and "rofl" lines from the end

You can select your favourite quotations in the database by clicking the little +heart button next to each quote. You will then be able to view these quotations in the
PE: Badges of DeviantARTBadges of deviantART, why are they given? What is their purpose in deviantART?
Most of us know these badges since we signed up in deviantart.
How did deviantART come up with the idea to create badges? Any background stories?
"Badges started out as merit badges for deviantART staff. They were only available to staff for special accomplishments like merit badges for the boy scouts. We started making them available to members by way of special events like our 10th birthday bash and hidden pageviews. They gained a lot of popularity about 3 years ago with the introduction of the llama badge system for our annual April fools prank. The rest is history, you guys can't seem to get enough of them. "
"The first badge was an april fools joke, the llama badge, free to give and they would evolve the more you received.
They were so well received, we followed it up with real badges, the next

Cintiq+ New Laptop+ SAI PAINTER= HAPPYOMG GUYS....I AM SOOO EXCITED. I got my new laptop back, and bought a Cintiq...AND AND....
wait for it.....
I have been trying since like, SAI first came out to get it to work on my Mac.
I LOVED using it back in the day, but sadly, I ended up with a Mac at one point and Photoshop it was (don't get me wrong I love photoshop). Granted I learned to use Photoshop but I missed SAI and it's ability to color and blend things with ease all while keeping that lovely "crisp" edge and rich color.
Now I can do both! I was able to get Sai to work with pressure sensitivity on my mac
So yeah.... expect all the rest of my commissions to be painted in SAI with photoshop for texture, etc.
Freelance stuff will still be done in Photoshop, it's easier to work with transparencies.
WOOO! I'm so excited to get started! Will be home tomorrow evening. So stay tuned! :>
Cookbook progress listFirst a quick note: If like me you're driven insane by the inanity that is More Like This, you can disable it for yourself thanks to `parallellogic:
This journal is to keep track of my progress on the cookbook. I'm not reveal everything in details, but I need to keep track of how many pages it runs. I'm always faced with the dilemma of keeping the price low for the user (meaning less pages) vs. making it a really good reference (more pages, more printing costs). I hope to find a good middle ground. I must say also that I've been working on a parallel booklet focused on spices, but in my efforts to keep it short I ended up having a lot of compact text. So I stopped while I decide how to make it more engaging again.

Great tutorial vidoesI searched for better videos and found these.
I've seen most of them before but spent all evening watching some I really wish I'd found years ago.
(Oh, and I apologise for the Daniel Craig video on my last post - I found it by chance, and while the general techniques were useful, I've just noticed that the end result was a bit ugly!)

Just a Notice...Hi everybody!
Just for those of you who are still interested in my doings, I'm giving a heads up. I'll probably be majorly cleaning my gallery (putting stuff into storage) and all that jazz. Also, when I do start uploading again, there are gonna be some changes regarding the series that I haven't addressed on DA yet. Lots of them.
Also, I apologize for my previous post. For those who responded, thank you very much. ;w; It meant a lot. I got a job set for me, starting next week, and I can start to build up from there.
I'm so sorry for my inactivity during 2012. @____@ I'm really not proud of it. I hope I can come back consistently again. I miss you all. ;_;
So what's going on with everybody? :3

Adoptables?????So I Have this Critter...
And it's called a shervol. (That's a link, btw). Anyway, they're really cute and junk and I've noticed people have been selling a lot of adoptables lately, so maybe I should too? I CAN DRAW CUTE THINGS TOO, DAMNIT.
Anyway, I MIGHT set up a seperate website for playing around with them. Their basic story is that they live in the forests and jungles of my secondary world, Docerae and the people of the nation Vesondr have taken to domesticating them to show and breed and just generally hoard in all of their cuteness. Here's the writeup:
"The planet of Docerae is comprised of fauna much like that of Earth; mammals, birds, reptiles, and the like making up the majority. However, a separate, smaller family of animal exists; the hexapod. The creatures from this line of evolution feature not four, but six limbs, and share the qualities of both birds an
Use Pinterest to sell prints and commissions. If you are providing a service such as art or craft commissions or selling prints, you can direct more traffic straight to your page or site with very little effort.
You'll need to sign up for an account with Pinterest before you do this, and it's easy to do - http://pinterest.com/ I would reccommend linking either a facebook or twitter account to save yourself some time.
Each deviation on deviantart has a row of sharing options - click the pinterest one:
Once you've clicked it, this page will load (provided that you've made an account):
You'll notice the $5 sign over the image. That's there because I typed $5 in the description. If a user clicks the image, they can quickly trace it back to your page, and hopefully buy a print or message you for a commission service. Make sure you stick the right price in there, and make the description relevant so your image shows up when people search.
The great thing is, it doesn't matter how many t
